Special Protections Available to You
If you have health conditions, are elderly, or face other challenges, we have programs to help protect your service.
Special Support Protection
Who qualifies: Anyone who is chronically ill, handicapped, elderly, or depends on life support equipment.
What you get: Extra review before disconnection and personal contact attempts.
How to apply: Call us and we'll send
a form for your doctor to fill out.
Winter Protection Program
When: December through March
Who qualifies: Anyone with a medical condition where losing heat could be dangerous.
How it works: Your doctor certifies disconnection would be dangerous, and we defer shutoff for up to 4 months. Back payment begins after the deferred shutoff period.
Extreme Weather Policy
Automatic protection when:
- Temperature above 100°F
- Temperature below 32°F
We voluntarily suspend all disconnections during dangerous weather.
Third-Party Notifications
What it is: We'll also send disconnection notices to a family member, friend, or caregiver you choose.
Why it helps: Ensures someone else knows if you're at risk of losing service.

What to Expect: Our Process Step-by-Step
Don’t Panic - You Have Time!
Even if you got a notice, we won’t disconnect your power without more warning. Use this time to call us and work out a solution.
You Get a
Termination Notice
When your bill is late (after the due date on the bill), we mail you a notice explaining:
- Your past due amount
- When your last payment was received
- Deadline to pay or call us
- Information regarding payment plans
Final Warning
(2 Days Before)
If we don’t hear from you by the deadline, we’ll give you a final heads-up either by:
- Phone call
- Door hanger at your home
This is your last chance to avoid disconnection.
Disconnection
(If No Contact)
We disconnect service between
8AM – 4PM, Monday–Thursday.
We won’t disconnect:
- On Fridays or the day before
holidays - When it’s above 100°F or below 32°F

If your service is disconnected, call (864) 545-2211 before making any payment. We need to coordinate the reconnection with your payment.
What You’ll Need
to Pay
Generally, you’ll need to cover:
- Past due amount
- Reconnection fee (varies by situation)
- Possible deposit (equal to 2 months
of highest consecutive bills)
Service Restoration
Once payment is arranged, we’ll schedule reconnection as quickly as possible. Same-day reconnection is often available during business hours.
