In June, Lockhart Power hosted a Union Uplifted Community Conversation, bringing together residents, local organizations, and partners to share ideas for strengthening Union County. Union Uplifted is a collaborative initiative involving United Way of the Piedmont, Partners for Rural Impact, Spartanburg Academic Movement, Union County Schools, and others working together to develop a cradle-to-career plan aimed at improving outcomes for the county’s more than 5,000 children. The effort is intentionally community-powered, ensuring local voices help shape both the vision and the priorities.

During the conversation, residents shared thoughtful and practical ideas about what Union County needs to thrive. One idea that gained immediate traction was the creation of a community garden. Through dialogue and connection, neighbors were introduced to available resources, a potential site was identified, and early steps were taken to move the idea forward.

Community conversations like this one create space for listening, coordination, and follow-through. By convening partners, supporting logistics, and providing a place for ideas to take root, Lockhart Power is proud to support the kind of collaboration that allows local priorities to turn into meaningful action.
